Addl: IG Investigation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Forensic Science plays a vital role in the criminal justice system by providing scientifically based information through analysis of physical evidence. During investigation, physical evidence is collected from crime scene or from a person, analyzed in a laboratory, where the experts form a forensic opinion. Each crime scene is unique, and each case presents its own challenges. My vision is to improve investigation skills of the investigation officers through professional trainings and up gradation of Forensic Science Laboratory Peshawar by incorporating good lab practices and as per ISO standards to provide better Forensic Services to the Law Enforcement Agencies.

Forensic Science is a multidisciplinary science which is based on scientific evidences, to assist the IO’s in investigation of cases and subsequently present this evidence as a testimony in the courts of law.

Based on Edmond Locard’s Exchange Principles, “Every contact leaves a trace”, all collected evidences help the police to apprehend the suspect. However, to extract analytical and corroborative opinion from physical evidence, it is a dire need to have state of the art forensic lab in the province. The recent up gradation undertaken at FSL, adoption of latest techniques/procedure, hiring of qualified experts and imparting advanced trainings is surely a step in the right direction which has improved the quality and timely submission of reports in criminal as well as civil cases.
